‘We know who you are’: AFP targets Russian Medibank hackers

The Australian Federal Police has identified the individual criminals responsible for stealing and releasing Medibank patient data and says they are part of a loose group of Russian hackers who have conducted numerous cyberattacks across several countries.

As the sensitive details of hundreds more Medibank patients were released on Friday – this time people with alcohol-related diagnoses – and threats of more to come, Commissioner Reece Kershaw said the AFP was working with Russian law enforcement authorities through Interpol.
