- Indigenous leaders and advocates of the Voice to parliament proposal have rubbished claims by Opposition Leader Peter Dutton that the advisory body would be captured by elites.

- Uluru Dialogue co-chair Megan Davis says Solicitor-General Stephen Donaghue “signed off” on the amendment included in the legislation, while Indigenous academic Marcia Langton says regional and remote communities feel that government’s have “failed them”.

- Domestic airfares are still a year away from returning to pre-pandemic levels even as airport passenger numbers returned to levels before COVID-19 in March and over the Easter holidays, Melbourne Airport says.

- Western Australian authorities say Port Hedland was “spared the worst” of Cyclone Ilsa that made landfall as a Category 5 overnight, bringing gusts of more than 250km/h, before being downgraded to a Category 2 system.

- NSW Premier Chris Minns has sacked three of the state’s most senior public servants including Treasury secretary Paul Grimes in a sweeping shake up of the public service.

- The Albanese government should drop controversial criteria that superannuation be invested “in an equitable and sustainable way” from its proposed purpose for the system to reduce the risk it is used to justify policy changes, the Financial Services Council (FSC) says.
