Former High Court justice Kenneth Hayne has dismissed claims the Indigenous Voice to parliament will have an effective veto over Australia Day, or even have the power to cancel Anzac Day commemorations.

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley said on Friday the Voice’s powers had been left “deliberately undefined” by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, a decision which raised the prospects of changes to any manner of laws and customs in Australia.
