China envoy’s plea to Albanese: Don’t let Trump come between us
China’s top local diplomat has warned Australia against letting the Trump administration disturb the stabilised relationship between Canberra and Beijing, while also expressing alarm over the Albanese government and Coalition’s targeting of foreign students to cut migration.
Ambassador Xiao Qian also admitted “regret” over Beijing’s trade sanctions against $20 billion worth of Australian exports and expressed a desire for the Australian and Chinese military to hold joint exercises as part of building trust.
