The Albanese government is quietly dismantling one of China’s final trade grievances with Australia that will deliver cheaper kitchen sinks for home renovators, but is poised to keep tariffs on Chinese-made railway wheels despite pressure from miners.

The deliberations over the lingering tit-for-tat tariff fight come as the local fishing industry remains in limbo over when Beijing will end its ban on lobster exports – a move that had been flagged as an outcome of Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s visit.
