Change needed to end ABC interference

A parliamentary committee has called for an overhaul of appointment processes and stable budget funding for the ABC, part of efforts to end  damaging political interference at the national broadcaster.

Established in the wake of former managing director Michelle Guthrie's axing last year and the subsequent resignation of board chairman Justin Milne, an inquiry by the Senate's environment and communications references committee said higher standards of transparency and accountability were needed to preserve public trust in the ABC.
