Casuals could lose higher pay rates under Labor plan: bosses

Flexibility and higher take-home pay sought by casual workers in Australia’s labour-hungry economy are at risk because of the Albanese government’s changes to employment rules, the Business Council of Australia says.

Almost one in three casuals who have a regular pattern of employment might be forced onto permanent contracts under Labor’s planned test on how a casual worker is defined, BCA chief executive Jennifer Westacott said, opening a new push against the proposals.
