‘Fix this now’: Why Labor needs to get NDIS back on track
The NDIS will surpass the annual cost of the age pension, or the national defence budget, or Medicare. Before long, it will cost each taxpayer an average of about $4000 a year to fund it.
The federal budget handed down by Jim Chalmers on Tuesday exposes the harsh reality that the Treasurer will never balance the books unless he arrests the spiralling costs of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The NDIS will surpass the annual cost of the age pension, or the national defence budget, or Medicare. It will cost each taxpayer an average of about $4000 a year to fund the NDIS by the end of this decade.
