Bunnings CEO: Price gouging claims ignore lowest-price promise

The chief executive of hardware giant Bunnings, Mike Schneider, said the chain took its promise to beat any competitor’s price seriously and critics would not find evidence that it had engaged in price gouging.

Bunnings was last month placed at the centre of a push to drag big-box retailers before a parliamentary inquiry into allegations of misuse of market power made by critics including NSW Nationals senator Ross Cadell. Liberal leader Peter Dutton also backed calls for a probe.
