UK vows 50-year submarine treaty to back AUKUS despite Trump doubts

Britain’s defence minister has rejected pessimism that Donald Trump could kill off the AUKUS submarine pact, declaring his confidence that the US will renew its commitment to the agreement following a Pentagon review.

In a 50-year show of faith in the plan to share nuclear-powered submarine technology with Australia, Britain has agreed to a treaty as the two countries attempt to defy growing doubts from the Trump administration over the $368 billion plan.
