- Chalmers ‘confident’ inflation will cool to 2.75pc by year’s end: Treasurer Jim Chalmers says he’s confident but not complacent about the budget’s forecast that inflation will cool to 2.75 per cent by the end of the year, after annual inflation this week rose to 4 per cent for May, from 3.6 per cent a month earlier.

- Macron heads into election showdown: Emmanuel Macron’s rallying call to the French people to “write history” will become a reality on June 30 when voters head to polling stations for the first round of legislative elections.

- Biden rallies wealthy donors for support after Trump debate: US President Joe Biden sought on Saturday (Sunday AEST) to reassure wealthy Democratic donors that he can defeat Donald Trump, as he works to stamp out a crisis of confidence in his re-election campaign following a feeble debate performance.
