Beware ‘overzealous’ rules that limit AI’s benefits: PC

Policymakers should avoid over-regulating to protect from potential harms caused by artificial intelligence because existing rules will be largely sufficient, and the benefits could be easily suffocated, according to the Productivity Commission.

In three new research papers, the commission noted there was scant evidence yet of AI-driven productivity gains for businesses, but cited research suggesting any benefits could take two decades or more to show up in macro statistics.
