BCA calls for apprentices boost to future-proof workforce

Labor and the Coalition have traded blows over support payments for employers taking on trainee workers, as the Business Council of Australia calls for bipartisan efforts to close skills gaps and strengthen the workforce.

BCA boss Bran Black said the government should increase payments to employers so more apprentice workers were given a start in home construction and clean energy jobs.
