Australian diplomats withdrawn from Iraq as regional tensions mount

Canberra | Staff have been withdrawn from the Australian embassy in Baghdad amid fears of retaliation against western allies after a US drone strike killed a top Iranian military commander on Friday.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said at the weekend that non-essential staff members had been withdrawn indefinitely as authorities assessed security for Australian diplomats and troops in the region.
