• The number of known cases around the country rose by 19 or 0.3pc and deaths rose to 81. NSW reported 12 new cases the biggest rise in a week.
• The global death toll from coronavirus has passed 196,000. There are more than 2.8 million known cases. The US death toll passed 50,000 and the UK approached 20,000.
• Tasmania recorded its tenth COVID-19 fatality with a 90-year old man dying at the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe.
• A 96 year-old woman who was a resident of Caddens’ Anglicare Newmarch House died in NSW.
• Around the country, Australians marked Anzac Day like no other by standing quietly in their drive ways, on their balconies, or in the street.
