Since the federal election, Liberals have consoled themselves by attempting to believe that things are not as bad as they appear. The party will likely have 34 out of 150 lower house seats, and when the Nationals are included that takes the Coalition to 43 seats. Optimistic Liberals hope that with some good policies and a bit of luck, the Coalition can gain the 33 additional seats necessary to form government in 2028.
