Australia is leaning left - leaving the Coalition in serious danger
It’s not just young voters who are deserting right-wing politics; older voters are staying with leftist parties for longer as they get older, in a trend with significant consequences for the long-term survival of the Coalition.
The old idea that young people vote with their heart and for progressive parties, while older folk vote with their brain (and wallet), and therefore as conservatives, no longer holds true, according to a new study from the Centre for Independent Studies, a centre-right think tank.
