Army chiefs brace for fallout from bombshell war crimes report

The Defence Department has contacted thousands of soldiers and civilians who served in Afghanistan over concerns they could experience "moral injury" over their own actions upon the release of an explosive report into potential war crimes committed by special forces.

Ahead of the release of Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force Paul Brereton's report, military law experts are warning prosecutions will take years, cost taxpayers millions of dollars and may not produce many convictions.
