Queensland is now the only hold-out state to a national schools funding deal after NSW agreed its teachers would use evidence-based approaches to classroom instruction in exchange for an additional $4.8 billion a year.
The money will flow on condition that school teachers shift the way they teach to methods based on the science of how young brains learn, including explicit approaches to reading and maths.
