Poor performing nursing homes will face twin pressures to lift their standard of care from rival operators no longer encumbered by caps on bed licences and new consumer-friendly transparency measures under the Morrison government’s $17.7 billion aged care overhaul.

Nursing home operators will also be paid 13 different rates to cover the cost of caring for residents that better reflects individual needs under a new funding model.
