A quiet sense of anticipation and satisfaction built among 300 Donald Trump supporters gathered in Sydney's Darling Harbour on Wednesday as the prospect of a victory by their political hero moved from remote to possible.
The Conservative Political Action Conference, a local offshoot of America's famed CPAC gathering, timed its second gathering for US election day, even though its organisers knew Joe Biden was likely to win.
