Locking down local government areas during the pandemic may have been ineffective in stopping the spread of COVID-19, a new study from Sydney University has found.

Between July and September 2021, residents of so-called LGAs of concern suffered under much tougher rules than other Sydneysiders. Only essential workers could leave the areas.
