Universities came into 2021 in a financially strong position and will be able to weather the storm caused by evaporating international student enrolments without further government support, according to Education Minister Alan Tudge.
In a terse speech to higher education leaders, Mr Tudge will tell The Australian Financial ReviewHigher Education Summit that universities’ diminishing revenue streams in 2020 were more a consequence of falling investment returns than from international students deferring or not enrolling.
