Outbreaks of COVID-19 in NSW and Victoria appear to have peaked but cases and hospital admissions are still rising sharply in Queensland and South Australia.

Western Australia and Tasmania also seem to be over the worst of the spring infection wave, fuelled by a concoction of omicron subvariants, in time for Christmas. Cases in WA are down by 8 per cent and in Tasmania by 3 per cent.
