One in three expected to catch COVID-19 as economists sound alarm

Nine million Australians could contract COVID-19 by the end of the year, but state health departments forecast that the current wave may peak as soon as next week.

On Friday, NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said she was “increasingly confident” case numbers would plateau from next week.
