New Alzheimer’s drug approved in US amid controversy

In a world first, an Alzheimer’s drug that removes plaque from the brain has been approved for use in the US.

The accelerated approval, granted on Monday, is controversial because the drug trials did not satisfactorily demonstrate that lowering the amount of plaque enhances brain function or slows the progression of Alzheimer’s.
