Complacency about cholesterol has crept into the Australian healthcare system and is causing preventable deaths and disability on a large scale, according to a new expert report.

While Australia is excellent at treating cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks and strokes when they first occur, it is not so good at preventing them from happening a second time.
