Australia’s blossoming love affair with Indian students could be on the rocks almost as quickly as it started amid accusations of rampant gaming of the visa system and large-scale poaching of students by dodgy agents.

Universities are reporting that half or more of their new Indian students are either ghosting them by never showing up for class or are being poached by rival private colleges soon after arriving, leaving them out of pocket and their reputations at risk.
