Why Brazil is too big and too important for Australia to ignore

Brazil’s future will be incredibly important for Australia as it tries to forge closer relationships in a tense world.

This November, about 50,000 people will converge on Belem – a small city at the mouth of the Amazon.

Brazil is hosting the global COP30 climate change gathering this year – just as Australia hopes to do in Adelaide next year. Even Brazilians are alarmed at how a city with limited infrastructure, transport and accommodation will cope.
