What does Australia do in the economic world war?

China is turning its economy inwards on to a near-war footing. America is mobilising for clean energy revolution. But there is a place for Australia too.

It has become almost a cliche to observe that to compete with China, democracies must become like China, empowering an interventionist state to unite economic and security policy into a single, robust whole.

As mighty a country as the US has taken the China challenge to heart, with President Joe Biden revolutionising American industry policy with huge new incentives for investment in green energy.
