A tick of approval from one of Asia’s most respected statesmen for AUKUS was just one positive sign from the ASEAN summit.
The second day of the ASEAN-Australia summit in Melbourne had some unexpected bouquets tossed into the basket of Australian diplomacy.
From Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, one of Asia’s most respected elder statesmen, came not only a historical tick of approval for Australia’s long history of regional engagement, but the prospect of a future Singaporean welcome for Australia’s nuclear-powered submarines, should they become a reality.
