Reports of the death of democracy are greatly exaggerated
The free world has shrunk, but only compared with its zenith 10 years ago. One of the stranger habits in the West today is a willingness to give autocrats too much credit, too soon.

Among the democracies that are due to choose a national government this year, are the world’s largest (India) and mightiest (the United States), as well as the one that fancies itself the most established (Britain).
