Foreign minister Penny Wong’s meeting with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi demonstrates China is ready to rebuild its relationship with Australia and will provide clear air for trade and investment, according to business figures.

The chairman of the Business Council of Australia’s global engagement committee, Warwick Smith, described Senator Wong as a “consummate diplomat” who, alongside Australia’s ambassador to China, Graham Fletcher, had steered the nation’s relationship with China back on track.
