The fact the review exists and may not be the last should show us what other US allies realised a while ago: America remains our most powerful partner, but we have to be able to do more for ourselves.
So, the Trump administration is reviewing the AUKUS sub-deal. What’s the review about, and what might drive it?
At least the purpose is clear, with the Pentagon telling us: “The department is reviewing AUKUS as part of ensuring that this initiative of the previous administration is aligned with the president’s America First agenda.”
