Albanese must put down a Quad marker in Tokyo

Anthony Albanese has already made history by hitting the runway running and jetting out of Canberra on his first official overseas engagement just hours after being sworn in as Australia’s 31st prime minister at Yarralumla.

Mr Albanese arrived in Tokyo overnight for today’s Quadrilateral Security Dialogue summit with US President Joe Biden, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Australia’s new prime minister will also hold bilateral talks with each Quad leader before flying home on Wednesday.
