‘Swayed by extremist groups’: Abetz slams bank in ESG stoush

Former conservative senator Eric Abetz has launched a full-throated campaign against Bendigo and Adelaide Bank on behalf of the Tasmanian forestry industry after the bank declined to lend to the industry.

The Tasmanian government and peak forestry body declared that the industry faced discrimination from lenders aiming to boost their environmental, social and governance credentials in response to wider societal concerns.
