Cyclone stops flights; PM mulls non-budget election options

Anthony Albanese is contemplating a longer election campaign that would enable him to cancel plans for an April 12 poll, but still avoid handing down another federal budget.

With Cyclone Alfred not expected to unleash on the east coast until Friday evening at the earliest, the prime minister is unlikely to make a final decision on the election until Sunday, when the extent of the damage situation will be known.
