‘Nature positive’ is high risk for Labor in the west
The short-term politics are a sideshow to the bigger danger of further slowing down Australia’s already sluggish economy.
Labor attempted to shelve its proposed “nature positive” laws by ruling out doing a deal with the Greens to pass the legislation in November. Now the policy has resurfaced.
With the backing of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek is resuscitating an issue that risks draining support for the government in the resource powerhouse of Western Australia ahead of the election due no later than May 17.
