Greens join army of crossbench home battery boosters

Australian consumers could soon have access to generous federal subsidies to install home batteries and remove gas connections after the Greens said they would put $8 billion in new household electrification measures on the negotiating table in any future balance-of-power discussions.

Under the Greens’ proposal, households looking to replace their gas appliances with electric alternatives would be able to access up to $10,000 in grants and $20,000 in low-interest loans, with similar incentives available to meet the high up-front costs of home battery installation.
