Flooding devastates oyster harvest, dairy industry

Devastated oyster farmers are bracing for millions of dollars in damage after this week’s flooding in northern NSW wiped out stock approaching a years-long harvest, while the torrential rain moving slowly south triggered transport chaos for commuters in Sydney.

The damage bill for the state dairy industry is also expected to be “immense”, after flooding crippled supply chains and left farmers with no choice but to dump truckloads of milk.
