Young economists say first home buyer supports should be scrapped

The government’s first home buyer handouts should be scrapped, say a team of young economists, who also argue migration is not the cause of the housing crisis but is actually the solution.

Five young economists from Deloitte, who have co-authored a research report laying out their perspective on the housing crisis, say scrapping the “demand-side handouts” would help make the bottom rung of the housing ladder more attainable.
