A sharp intergenerational divide has emerged for self-reported personal wellbeing, as younger and lower income people feel increasingly pessimistic about their standard of living.
More broadly, satisfaction with the economic situation in Australia has fallen to the lowest level in the 22-year history of the Australian Unity and Deakin University Wellbeing Index report – slumping below levels recorded during the 2008 global financial crisis.
