US union boss urges Australian workers to strike while iron is hot

Washington | The president of the largest manufacturing union in the US says there will be further strike activity beyond this year’s surge, as he urged Australian organisers to take advantage of a unique post-pandemic moment to demand better pay for their members.

United Steelworkers president Thomas Conway, who oversees 1.2 million active and retired workers across paper and forestry, rubber, manufacturing, energy and other industrial areas, says people are “pissed off” at years of wage stagnation.
