This cafe owner took a gamble on flood insurance. She lost

When Jacquie Tapsall and her business partner, Jessica Sexton, quit their jobs and poured their life savings into opening a cafe in Brisbane two years ago, the quotes they received for flood insurance made their eyes water.

They knew the shopfront in Wilston, a suburb in the city’s west bordered by Enoggera Creek, had gone under in Brisbane’s 2022 floods under previous owners.
