CFMEU complaint to ACT police minister led to change in policing
The construction union used its influence with the Labor ACT government in an effort to get the Australian Federal Police to back off from action against union officials on Canberra construction sites.
Dean Hall, the ACT head of the construction division of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, complained about the police conduct to ACT Police Minister Joy Burch. She raised the union's concerns directly with the ACT's chief police officer, Rudi Lammers, who is an officer in the Australian Federal Police.
