Nearly three in four NSW residents wary of scrapping stamp duty

Almost three in four NSW residents would be reluctant to pay an annual land tax instead of stamp duty because they are worried a future government would increase the tax rate.
The finding, from a report by consulting firm PwC titled Why NSW’s proposed property tax reform is as safe as houses, comes as the NSW government mulls gradually replacing stamp duty with an “opt-in” land tax for future property buyers.
