Investment must be restored so Australia comes out stronger

The question at day two of The Australian Financial Review Business Summit was whether Australia can follow up the initial rebound from the pandemic and come back stronger amid the massive disruptions.

Day two of The Australian Financial Review Business Summit brought home the dizzying disruptions and transformations that have been accelerated by the pandemic: the pervasive tech disruption, the gathering energy and decarbonisation transformation, the global flood of dirt-cheap money, rapid shifts in consumer behaviour, the radical changes to ways of working, and even China’s unsettling disturbance of the geostrategic balance.

Yet the mood was upbeat, reflecting both relief at Australia’s world-leading performance on suppressing COVID-19 and reopening the economy, but also the role that business has played in this Team Australia effort.
