HSBC copped RBA ban after private briefing leaks

RBA assistant governor Christopher Kent has revealed that HSBC was previously banned from receiving private briefings from the central bank after information from a private event was leaked to a non-attendee.

The Australian Financial Review recently revealed that Barrenjoey, Westpac and RBC Capital Markets were each banned for 12 months from receiving private briefings from RBA officials after the three organisations held events where an attendee leaked details of what was said by an RBA official to a non-attendee.
