Workers laid off from emissions-intensive roles suffered larger income falls than others losing their jobs, according to a new paper from Reserve Bank of Australia researchers that underlines the economic challenges of the green energy transition.
However, the jobs displacement and income losses were smaller in Australia than the average of the 14 rich countries analysed, leaving Australia potentially better placed for the green transition than some other countries.
