Dutton’s proposal for taxpayer-funded lunches is not serious policy

Less than a week after condemning Labor’s cost-of-living policies as sugar hits, Dutton on Sunday announced a new sugar hit of his own.

It was less than a week ago that Opposition Leader Peter Dutton branded Labor’s cost-of-living policies, including $300 energy bill rebates, counterproductive “sugar hits” that simply made inflation worse.

“People are smarter than that. They realise that what it’s doing is keeping their mortgage rates higher for longer,” he told ABC radio on Monday.
